Chapter 2 - 2025/05/06 – DEVLOG#4


Hey everyone,

This first major update lays the foundation for one of Rise of the Monarch’s core gameplay pillars, while continuing to develop its tone, relationships, and story progression. It’s an essential release with more than 500 new lines of dialogue, and a brand new system integrated to the story.

NEW: COMBAT SYSTEM

The very first version of the turn-based battle system is now ready!

  • 1v1 tutorial designed to ease you into the system.
  • Dynamic HP bars, character animations, and combat text.
  • Dice-based logic to simulate damage, critical hits, and misses.
  • Basic attacks and visual combat feedback.
  • Defeat and recovery as part of the narrative.

This system will greatly evolve with future updates: expect group fights, skills, buffs, and more strategic choices over time.

STORY & CONTENT

  • First part of Chapter 2 is now available.
  • It focuses on early character growth, rising tension, and personal stakes.
  • You’ll face new challenges, and encounter the first hints of what lies dormant inside the MC.

POLISH & FEATURES

  • Visual transitions, HUD improvements, and early affection systems are taking shape.
  • Dialogue cleanup and pacing adjustments throughout the chapter.
  • Technical groundwork laid for upcoming exploration and branching scenes.

WHAT’S NEXT?

The upcoming version 0.25 will follow the mission given at the end of this chapter. It will introduce a new location, new character, and a more tense, atmospheric tone. It is the beginning of something much darker.
